Hi Kelly. Thanks for your kind words about Suicide Note.

I actually use a couple of Adobe programs for vidding (Premiere Pro and After-Effects as well as some stuff in Photoshop)

The Adobe website will probably offer free trials of most of its software. This should be helpful in determining whether their products are for you or not. I recommend you start with Premiere as it is the easiest to pick up. I do the bulk of my editing with it.

There are a number of other programs that you could choose from. Avid do a very powerful program but it is very expensive and uses a lot of RAM.

Windows movie maker is the only free program I know of. There are websites out there that provide you with extra effects and transitions. I don't know whether they will help.

At the cheaper end there are products by Pinnacle and Vegas. If you are on a mac there is Final Cut. All of these probably offer a trial. [livejournal.com profile] vidding group memories will have a lot more information about all sorts of programs.

I find that Premiere suits me just fine. It is quite easy to get to grip with the basics. It offers you some good out of the box effects as well as the ability to make your own. I have very rarely found myself unable to do something I wanted. That would be the one I would recommend.

I hope this has been helpful. Good luck.
