Does anyone else watch Bad Girls?

What is it with this show?! It really can't make up it’s mind what it is, it's a gritty drama no it's a comedy (a bad one at that). After the first season it went down hill but this current one is hilariously bad. Fenner with his snip and Di going all baby loony. Then we have that evil psycho bitch Natalie who would stab you the minute she sets eyes on you. She is a good character and the acting is okay as far as Larkhall standards go but she has no redeeming features at all. She is just downright nasty. How can she possibly replace Yvonne as top dog?

Now we have the introduction of the fit, out for revenge Pat. It's going to be one hell of a showdown. The fight in tonight’s episode was pretty impressive, a good cat fight, you just can't beat the sight of two women rolling around the floor. Lol it’s a shame the make-up artists didn't put a little more effort into the look (Natalie and Pat both had the same nostrils bloodied, the same cheek swollen, the same bald patch, the same amount of fur flying) but yes, for now, Evil Natalie has been downsized.

I just do not get peoples reactions to Arun coming out as a transsexual, how on earth can they possibly think of sending her to a male prison?! It is insane. She has had the op; she has female genitals, that makes her a female. Right? If she was to be sent to a male prison she *will* be raped without a doubt or even murdered. It's not uncommon for male rape to be part of the prison system. What could happen is just unthinkable. Yes it's a TV show but god! Grrr this is one character that I really feel for. They cannot send her! Hopefully the rough and tumble between Pat and Natalie has put paid to that.

So summing up my ramble - it's a crap show but the bad is kinda good.

Oh thanks! I was not expecting that. :)

*raises hand* Yep, I watch it! Well, more like watched it. I'm a bit behind at the moment since the show kinda got a lot worse after its 4th series. 1-3 were good but then something happened.

And then those bastards killed Yvonne! So not fair. *sulks* I've seen the first three episodes of series 7 but it doesn't seem to be as hooking as it used to be. It's been rather poor actually. Natalie is horrible, I don't like her at all. And no, she can never replace Yvonne.

But what got me hooked in the beginning [apart from Simone Lahbib that is] was the humour, good storyteling and the realistic characters. These things can't be found anymore. It's a shame it's become this bad.

I know what you mean. The show has just got progressively worse. Now it is just a farse. Back when it started it was kinda gritty and ground breaking whereas now it is just a soap with poorly developed characters and no real focus. It just lurches from one storyline to the next merrily recycling old plots thinking nobody will notice. Just because a storyline was successful once doesn't mean it will be on the second or third time around.
It is definitely one of those shows that has been allowed to run for too long and realistically should have been axed three seasons ago.

I still keep watching though out of some sort of misplaced loyalty only now it is usually on in the background whilst I'm doing something else whereas at one time I would have been riveted.

Exactly. I mean, look at the Fenner storyline. It's been repeating itself since series 2. And bloody hell, once catch him, he'll bounce right back, just like that! Realism, anybody?

And I also got fed up with the "obligatory" lesbian couples. Nikki & Helen were brilliant, something new and definitely ground breaking. And when they left they just had to bring a new couple in, to satisfy the N/H fans. A very bad decicion.

I agree with you: now it pretty much reminds me of some poor soap opera, with its stupid plotlines and unrealistic characters. They should end it now, while there's still some dignity left.

I know the Fenner thing is just ridiculous. I can just about accept that he managed to con his wife into getting him out of prison and that he won his unfair dismissal case but would he really still be working in the prison service, in the same prison, on the same wing, with a promotion. The strange thing is early on it had some good dramatic stuff but it never took itself too seriously whereas now the storylines a completely over the top and yet it seems to have lost all sense of humour.

I agree totally about Nikki & Helen.

What annoys me most is my tendency to be loyal to shows long after they have ceased to deserve it. If I had voted with my remote and just stopped watching years ago I could have saved myself the frustration.

I loved Bad Girls. I watched it without missing ep for the first for season and then brought the dvd's and watched them a lot too but I started watching season five and was shock at how much it deteriated. It was like the writers all gave up and they got some amatuers to take over. And I hate to put down a show I once loved so much. Anyway I started watching it this season and a couple of episodes have been ok. But i agree with you sometimes it's a drama and other times it a bad comedy act. Enough with Fenner too, thats so boring.
It shocked me when they said the Arun was still legally a man post op - It certainly highlights how laws like that should be changed. It basically means that the law condones transexuals to be raped and murdered as that is what would happen if she was moved to a male prison, I agree. Do you think that in a real prison Women would react like that? Ofcourse some would but I'm not sure there would be such a bad reaction over all. Maybe I'm naive.
