Wow, Milly I'm bowled over by your high praise and you really got the vid which is great news for me.
The song really does sound like John doesn't it? When I first heard it I was struck by that and then there's the line about naming demons down the barrel of a gun and that's when I was convinced that it was perfect.
0:36 yep that's me messing with 3D to make the demonic symbolism a bit more unified. It is footage from the source though, I'm far too lazy to track down external source.
0:53 In a lot of ways the whole vid is about Mary's absence and in this chorus that's particularly apparent almost as if Mary is the angelic voice from beyond the grave.
1:26 It makes me so happy that you picked up on that. It's probably my favourite little moment in the vid and I kind of thought I'd put it there just for me. I wasn't particularly expecting it to get noticed.
2:05 "Listening to a man narrate his own death" God, I wish I'd thought of that phrase to describe this section. This was the point at which I thought I might confuse people so it's reassuring to know it didn't seem weird.
2:30 The final "Deus Ibi Est" is my own favourite part in terms of emotional impact and Dean firing the gun on that line was one of the first clips I laid down and I never fell out of love with it, no matter how much I tinkered with the rest of the vid.
Thank you so much for your insightful feedback. It's always so exciting when someone really gets a vid. That's particularly true in this case because I think "invisible hands" is the most moving John vid I've ever seen.
