Vid speed challenge: Combat Honey (Tomb Raider)

Video Title: Combat Honey
Song Title/Artist: Combat Honey - The Wannadies
Movie: Tomb Raider
Summary: One geek's love for his warrior woman.
Length/Format: 2.28 (Xvid)
Notes:
I am a teenage boy in a grown woman’s body.
This vid came about because both myself and

So the main points of the challenge were that we both exchanged various songs for various movies and gave a prompt for each. We had a full 48hrs from start to finish to get ourselves organized and to have the finished product ready. Oh and the vid should have been 2 mins or under but because the song I picked was just over that mark it seemed silly to edit it down just for the sake of it. I'm sure you don't mind, do you, Astarte! ;)
And did I have a good time making this? Yes, surprisingly I did. I feel good about it and I'm glad I did it. Heh maybe I work better with a deadline? *holds lids open with matchsticks*
I am seriously intrigued to find out what you went with for your challenge

Your spin on the classic action vid was awesome, the soft edge you gave it with the sweetness of your narrator and that you had fun with it shines through, you did as expected an fantastic job under pressure and hey, who needs sleep, if you have a vid to finish? And we both cheated out on the under two minutes rule, so it’s all fine, it’s the one rule nobody minds breaking. Okay, I have a full house, I get back to you later, love, just wanted to let you know that you rule the universe in light speed! *bows to her Charmax shrine*

I don't think there is any love as pure and true as geek love and there is definitely a good deal of self mockery in there.
The song was a great gift and really let me go to town. I got to play in the shallow end of the pool which, let's be honest, is where I'm happiest.
This speed challenge was great fun. I even found time to do a tiny bit of obsessing about 16 frames that didn't look quite right. It wouldn't be vidding without that, right?
I nearly went with the "Lessons Learned" idea which I found really intriguing but my Kill Bill source has gotten corrupted somehow. So I think I'll hang onto that one and shelve it away until I have the DVDs. It would almost certainly have been beyond me for the speed challenge anyway so it's probably for the best.

Plus doing a ghosting blend just because you can and the music fits is kinda shallow too. And obsessing is part of the game, I don’t think anyone will notice the single frames I put in there, but they are MEANINGFUL! *shakes fist in scary manner*
And next time we make it a threesome and let Xandra kick our asses!

Of course you realise that if you vid Brad and I vid Angelina than when Xandra joins in that leaves her with Jennifer Aniston. eek!
no subject
so where you purposely vidding Brad and Angelina or what?

I don't think speed vidding will ever come naturally but at least now I know I can have a fair stab at it.
And the Brad and Angelina thing is just one of those weird coincidences that seem to happen whenever Astarte's involved. I suspect she has strange mental powers.

Damn i need to be in on your next Astarte joint activities.

You should definitely join in the insanity next time. I don't know how you've managed to avoid it so far.

A few of many favorite moments:
-The motion of the robot fight in the opening! Whee!
-The shower! So perfectly sums it up!
-I love how you cut on each syllable of "com-bat-hon-ey" each time
-The whole bridge - beginning with the dogs and ending with the falling to that source electrical effect - was just amazing.
-The way it picks up speed toward the end without losing the smirk... and the cha-cha-cha-charmax. HA
I'm going to try not to think about how this was a quick "blow-off-steam" vid for you because that could get depressing fast.
Instead I'll just watch it again.

I have to admit this is the most fun I've had with a vid in ages, the subject matter and tone of the song certainly didn't do any harm in that respect. Not having time to fret about every detail was very liberating I can definitely recommend it as good therapy for the vidding blues.
I'm glad you liked the end credits, I just couldn't resist.

The flow was perfect with the song, even down to the credits (very amusing). This is going in my "keeper" folder. :)

How wierd is the timing on this one?
I have only just gotten my grubbies on the PC version of Tomb Raider: Anniversary (a spiffy looking update on the original Tomb Raider game that came out 10 years ago) & your vid comes along! So Im definately in the right frame of mind to watch this. :)
Impressive that you put something like this together without preparation in 48hrs & have it work so well! Love the spraying water in the tomb then the scene with Lara in the shower (though the perv in me missed seeing the naked back shot of Angelia where you can see part of her boob-age). And the smashing/mend it line worked well too! Working you name into the song for the credits was a nice way to finish off the vid.
Gaaaar-ooveh!

boobsarray of weapons. I've never managed to get on with playing action games on the PC so I guess I'll be grabbing the PSP version in a couple of months time.As for the vid itself it was a lot of fun to make and if a fraction of that comes across then I'm happy. As for the naked back it was, naturally, one of the first clips I laid down but it got lost in a mad whirl of clip shuffling towards the end. :D
Oh and thanks for commenting!

The game is bringing back so many memories for me - its like catching up with an old friend whos got better looking with age!

I loved the song! The video was fun and it looked like you had a chilled time making it. Right on!

It's great fun and lots of action, kinda like the movie(s), only better. Knowing that you made it in 48 hours is both impressive and depressing.

It was nice to be able to just use the parts of the film that I loved and leave out the tedious bits.
It was a lot of fun to make and the deadline was strangely liberating, less time for self doubt and indecision.

Plus as long as I have this, I can have all the fun without the boring parts. ;} Have I mentioned lately that I *adore* it when you vid action movies? :D

I love vidding action too but unfortunately with action comes fight scenes and I hate editing fighting. That'll be something I'll promise myself to work on next year when that end of year vidding meme goes around.
The credits are fun, aren't they? I just couldn't resist.
