Life On Mars Vid

Video Title: Club Foot
Song Title/Artist: Club Foot - Kasabian
Show: Life On Mars
Summary: This vid did my head in beyond belief. It contains footage from all 8 episodes but does not spoil any big plot points. It focuses on the relationship between Sam and Gene and therefore plays up the buddy cop aspect of the show. I call it a slash vid or you could just say it is Sam and Gene kicking ass.

Date: 2006-07-22 12:18 pm (UTC)1. Brilliant music choice. There are many cliched choices you could have made, but this music is perfect. I liked Club Foot so much I bought it from iTunes.
2. High quality source material. Nothing I hate more than looking at bad aspect ratio caps, much less a whole vid that's wrong.
3. Fantastic editing: just a few specifics, I like that you flipped Sam's entrance to left-to-right (generally I hate flipped scenes) because it works visually; like the use of the 'stop-motion' effect in several places; only one very brief shot with unheard dialogue and it was essential to the vid; I like what you did with the blood in the kitchen scenes--did you slow it down? I saw a lot more in your vid than I did in the episode!
4. As someone said above, there's something about the way you edited the dancing scene that I find to be an amazingly erotic couple of seconds (!) *is embarrassed*
5. The meshing of music and visuals is stunning...I can't pick a single example since the whole video is perfect in that respect--which to my mind, it the whole point of a vid. You don't just match movement to music but also the action seems to suit the lyrics (what I can hear of them) and the different sections of the music.
I'm going to hold off just a bit before I send my friends here, because they haven't seen the whole series and there are two iconic moments included in the vid that I think are best seen first in the episode. (However that hasn't stopped BBC America from including them in their 'Sneak Peek at LOM' on their website! what's up with that?)
BTW, your vid blows BBC America's out of the water--of course, they're trying to explain some of the story and capture new viewers.
A very professional job! Thanks again for this treat.

Date: 2006-07-22 03:49 pm (UTC)I'm pleased you didn't think the music choice was cliched because I have to admit that I keep hearing it everywhere now, in film and tv trailers etc.
I swapped some of the clips and took out a camera flash in the blood in the kitchen scene which I think gives the impression of it being slower plus I think I grabbed a clip from earlier in the ep.
It is good to know that you will be encouraging people to watch LOM. If my vid attracts anyone to the show that would be great. I'm glad you liked the vid and even more so that you like the show.
Thanks again!
