charmax: (Vidder malfunction)
So, my computer has been failing for about 6 months now but over the last 2, things have been dire. I am limping to the finish line with my second Club Vivid vid and then with help from the bank of mom and dad (Max's) I am getting this The Dell XPS 630. It's an awesome monster of a machine! I shall have it in about 2 weeks.

These are the specs:

Base Intel® Core™ 2 Quad-Core Processor Q6600 (2.40Ghz, 1066MHz FSB, 8MB cache)
Microsoft Operating System Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium - English
Memory Memory 3072 MB (2 x 1GB, 2 x 512MB) 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel
Keyboard Dell™ Enhanced USB Multimedia Keyboard - UK/Irish (QWERTY)
Video Card DUAL 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800GT graphics card
Hard Drive Hard Drive 640 GB (2x320GB) Serial ATA (7200 Rpm) Dual HDD Config. Raid 0 Stripe
Floppy Drives and Additional Storage Devices 19-in-1 Media Card Reader with Bluetooth
Mouse Dell Optical Scroll Premium Mouse
Optical Devices 16X DVD+/-RW (Read/Write DVD, CD)
Sound Cards SoundBlaster™ XFI™ Xtreme Gamer Card

Pretty cool, right?

All emails/comments may be sporadic for the next couple of weeks.

Apparently there is some problem with my NTSC dvd. I offered it too soon. Unfortunately the files will not extract and at the moment I am way to tired to figure out what the issue is. If you've already taken the time to download these files I'm so so sorry for the inconvenience. I hope it won't put you off. :( Please abort if you're mid-download.

I'm going to remove the dvd post for now.

Hmmm

So other than [livejournal.com profile] thefourthvine has anyone successfully downloaded my NTSC dvd?

Are there any vidders out there thinking of switching to the new windows vista? I'm thinking about it but I'm concerned how it'll affect me being able to rip and encode... I'm not sure if microsoft have made it more difficult - copyright protection and all that?

My computer hates me. Seriously. I reformatted 1 of my eternal hard drives only about 3 weeks ago and because it was the best out of the 2 externals I decided that was the one where I should back-up all of my vid projects trimmed files to. Oh what a mistake that was! It's cost me dearly. Saved projects, tutorials, digital juice files - gone. Thank ---- I have the master AVI's. RIP drive you have served me well. I do wish you had given me some warning you were ill though, and then I might have been able to help... or at least taken the burden of my files from you.

Damn.

ETA: I think I jinxed it by mentioning the vid yesterday...
