Date: 2006-12-22 03:10 pm (UTC)It's always great to get a compliment from you.
The blue border served to give it a comic book touch and more importantly disguised the fact that all the films were slightly different sizes! Definitely a case of making a virtue out of necessity.
Bobby is just soo gay. *g*

Date: 2006-12-22 03:16 pm (UTC)It was a fun vid to make in a masochistic, swearing at the screen sort of way. I don't think I've ever been so glad to finish a vid in my life. :D

Date: 2006-12-23 08:21 am (UTC)This was my first attempt at using multiple sources. I was totally unprepared for how frustrating the tech was going to be but on the other hand I did get some great visuals to work with.

Date: 2006-12-23 08:39 am (UTC)My goal was to make an uplifting multi-fandom video. I was originally going to use more sources but in the interests of the structure I dropped some of the suckier movies which, unfortunately, meant losing most of the women. Oh well!

Date: 2006-12-24 07:06 am (UTC)I'm so pleased you enjoyed the vid, I really wanted it to appeal to people generally, it's just a fun uplifting vid with lots of shiny so the context of the movies is not that important.

Date: 2006-12-23 10:32 am (UTC)You've distilled the essence of why comic movies are just so irrestible. I don't even want to think about how much work had to have gone into combing through these, and more importantly, having to stop pretty scenes to move onto the next clip and to have to cull things. I mean, there is one thing comic movies always do well and that's the pretty. Having to be concise with that over so many sources had to be agony. ;) But wow, so clearly worth it.
And it's not just pretty! The intro is ridiculously clever and there is so much enjoyment of the source. And the structure! Giving each movie it's time and knowing *when* to do that. And then to so seemlessly go back to moving between them all. Just--wow. That the movement and parallels are equally wonderful go without saying as far as I'm concerned.
Gah, the whole thing just puts a big grin on my face which is extra happy making to me because I didn't even *like* some of those movies, lol. ;D

Date: 2006-12-24 07:17 am (UTC)You're right it was quite painful to stop and move on leaving a ton of cool footage out.

Date: 2006-12-23 03:33 pm (UTC)Also, you've done a fantastic job of bringing together the common elements from such very *disparate* universes -- the Xmen and Batman and *Superman*....and the Incredible! *loves on you*
Thank you so much for this.

Date: 2006-12-23 08:36 pm (UTC)Great use of parallelism to highlight the heroes' similarities and differences, and I really liked the way the first verse introduces them all with humor as well as affection. Great stuff. Go you.

Date: 2006-12-24 04:34 am (UTC)I can’t get over the SQUEE! Seriously, I’ve started several feedbacks by now and they stutter themselves through too many exclamation marks and OMFG!!1!one!!!! So embarrassing, that I won’t object you to one of those, although I wanted you to know that I love this vid with every fibre of my heart, you captured the reason why superhero flicks rule so fucking perfectly. They’re awesome to watch, the essence of the Pretty and from the special effects alone, but also the freak aspect they all have in common.
Being outside the norm, being able to do great things and the responsibility that comes with their power is pictured so incredibly amazingly in ‘Destiny Calling’. Your narrative in this work of arts just brings out so many parallels and levels, ties them together seamlessly like all of these chapters of epic hero tale’s are finally bound in one volume and it goes deeper than leaps from buildings and dodging bullets, but that stuff is just awesome to watch and there is no use in denying it.
The feel good vibe you packed the whole vid in and wrapped it up in victory and being grounded in the world they protect, makes this such a joy to watch and is the reason for me sitting here dumb folded and unable to get over the shire glee you inspired, these guys kick artfully ass and we love them for it. And I love you for making me feel like the biggest fool every time I comment on your vids, because I can’t get any rational thought out and there is just so much love that needs to be expressed and I always feel like just scratching the surface.

Date: 2006-12-24 09:12 am (UTC)I haven't vidded movies for a while and I'd forgotten how pretty super widescreen footage is. It makes me sympathise all the more for the fact that you had to edit 4:3 footage for the Scully vid. (I forgot to mention that in your lj. 4:3 footage is such an arse to work with).
For me the vid is about celebrating difference and embracing your inner freak. If you can have fun running around in a silly suit at the same time as saving the world so much the better.
You don't have to worry about only scratching the surface of this vid it is pretty much all surface, shiny, shiny surface. lol.
