Here are my 2 Club Vivid vids for Vividcon this year. I have no idea if they were actually shown (yet!) These were both finished in May so I've been sitting on them since then. It's been killing me! Anyone who knows me knows patience is not one of my strongest suits. So finally here we go, YAY! I hope y'all enjoy them. Any and all feedback would be awesome, seriously.
Thank you so much
killabeez for giving me your thoughts on Boogie Wonderland back in May, "Awesome vid!" from you made me incredibly happy and reassured.
astartexx, massive thanks go to you because, as always, your commentary, squee and insight was/is invaluable!
colour_me_sassy, the feedback then and the feedback every time you give it is cherished. Without going too overboard with the cheez and the embarrassment - I love you all. :P
Boogie Wonderland was inspired by
killabeez's "Puttin On The Ritz" (I'm a hopeless fangirl ;)) but I've moved the focused era on 20yrs or so.

Video Title: Boogie Wonderland
Song Title/Artist: Boogie Wonderland - Earth, Wind and Fire
Movie: Multi
The Rocky Horror Show
Saturday Night Fever
Staying Alive
Roll Bounce
Xanadu
Flashdance
Fame
Boogie Nights
Grease
Footloose
The Full Monty
Car Wash
Can't Stop The Music
Summary: Cracktastic. Glitter, sparkles and gratuitous crotch shots..
Length/Format: 2.21(Xvid)
Notes: Boogie Wonderland was the song I picked out of the list of songs given on the
vividcon LJ. I hope whoever gave it as a prompt thinks I did it justice. The song was edited down and melded with another party type track to give it that extra Disco vibe.
Yes, some crappy movies were purchased for the purpose of this project. That's how much I love vidding. I'm never quite sure if I should do notes or what details you would like to read so if you have any specific questions then please ask in the comments.
Download big Xvid(720x400 - 50MB)
Download small Xvid (480x272 - 22MB)
stream at imeem Low quality.

Video Title: Don't Let Me Be Misundersood
Song Title/Artist: Don't Let Me Be Misundersood - Santa Esmeralda
Movie: Shrek 2 (Puss)
Summary: Puss in Boots wants your understanding.
Length/Format: 2.13(Xvid)
Notes: I have to admit I had forgotten how little screen time Puss gets in Shrek 2 which made the vid a very different sort of challenge from Boogie Wonderland with it's seemingly endless clip choices. Again, as with Boogie Wonderland, if you have any specific questions about this vid please fire away in the comments.

Don't Let Me Be Misundersood: </strong wow. This one is awesome as well !! Your editing is incredible, I'm serious. *love* I love the humor in this one and the horse dancing rotfl !! Really awesome work !

Date: 2007-08-13 12:10 pm (UTC)Boogie Wonderland is pure joy. It reminds me of a VH1 80's music video. And I never cease to snicker when I see John Travolta dancing. He's so ridiculous!

Date: 2007-08-14 06:06 am (UTC)P.S. back to our regularly scheduled programming, "It's Time To Pick Charmax's Brain!" How did you do the moving layers? Still with the targa sequencing/photoshop as we'd previously discussed? Or have you found a better method these days? :)

Re: Love
Date: 2007-08-14 08:14 am (UTC)I'm not going to make any comment about Roll Bounce except to say the skating is very impressive even if the acting isn't. I watched Saturday Night Fever for this vid for the first time in years and discovered a love for it I never knew I had.

Date: 2007-08-14 08:45 am (UTC)As for Misunderstood, Puss is just my favourite Shrek character and so well observed in his cattiness, it was a homage to my boy cat, Bailey. The song seemed so obvious I was surprised it wasn't on the soundtrack, sometimes going with the obvious choice is the way to go.
The moving layers was done using the targa method but since I made this vid I have found a better alternative. You can import a section of avi into adobe Image Ready and do any masking on the whole sequence then export as single frames. It's way easier than the previous method. Of course, if I was any good at masking in After Effects it would be a doddle but I'm not as comfortable with the bezier curves and pen tool in AE as I am in PS. My method is definitely harder than it needs to be.

Date: 2007-08-14 09:38 am (UTC)My mother is my number one fan. She watched most of my vids. I don't let her watch everything, though. I learned my lesson after I showed her an old vid of Queer as Folk and she had embarrassing comments about Brian's ass. She's so much dirtier than me.
