I have added a few of my vids to stage6 which is a HQ streaming service. Unfortunately, Imeem's quality, both for viewing vids and it's service generally, is not as great as it was. I will be sticking with Imeem until I am booted but this is to give an alternative for some vids. So far, there are about half a dozen of us vidders up there. Anyone joining me?

This is me

Definitely going to play around with this once I get a day off. Looks very promising. And imeem... doesn't.

I signed up yesterday but haven't had time to check it out yet or for uploading. I think I will need to convert my vids first.

Each day something new pops up at imeem (stats reporting, spam comments etc etc) that's making me think it won't be long before I stop using the site.

It was bad enough when the vids disappeared and the quality plummetted (sp?) fell but everything seems to be moving in a direction I don't like.

I suspect that music not vids will be iMeem's primary focus from now on. also, while Stage6 is in serious talks with the studios to get their content licensed - DxV will always be a video focused site.

Stage6 also allows you to download the vids as well - not well documented.

You really should. When you get the time.

I don't hate Imeem now but it's certainly not what I signed up for. So far, stage6 is great. You will need to convert your vids to .avi or .divx though, if you haven't already. If you have any trouble with that, I think you can download their Dr Divx software which is a vid converter. I always use AutoGK myself which is very quick and easy.

Hopefully see you soon then?

Shame about Imeem because we had a lot of vidders joining and it nice to be part of that.

I saw that they were offering Dr Divx software so once I'm back from my convention this weekend I think I will give it a go. I've seen AutoGK spoken of alot. Is it an all round converter, encoder etc? I'm looking for something that will also crop my clips to stop squishy aspect ratios when I mix the seasons, WinAvi doesn't quite get it right.

Maybe more vidders will join up to stage6 as well-as an alternative... I hope so anyway.

I don't really know how Dr Divx works but with AutoGK it's not so much a converter as an encoder. The formats AutoGK supports are:

"AutoGK accepts input files with the following extensions: MPG, MPEG, VOB, VRO, M2V, DAT, IFO, TS, TP, TRP, M2T, AVI. In terms of formats it supports mpeg1, mpeg2, transport streams, vobs from DVDs and practically any codec in AVI file."

I can't really suggest a tool that will automatically correct the aspect ratios, unfortunately.

Have a great weekend!

Oh thanks for that, my old vids are all WMV, so I may have to converter them to MPEG first and then go from there.

The aspect ratio thing is a real pain in Movie Maker.

I will have fun, I might be knackered after but I am sure I will. I'll try not to picspam lj :)
