I've watched some great vids this week but none that stand out more than Foomatic's most recent video "Superstar" to the movie Boy's Don't Cry. The vid, like the movie, is so raw, so passionate, so emotionally draining that it hurts. Even with all that Foo has managed to make it feel a little more positive without shying away from the inevitable tragedy. Brandon, whose story this is, really was a superstar.

Stream at Imeem.

If you watch it please take a moment to tell the vidder what you think.

Aw shucks, Charmax! A vid rec? Are you for real?! That's awesomeness AND a bag to chips. I'm glad you enjoyed the vid; I wanted to try something different from what I usually do, and I was a little worried that people wouldn't respond to the unconventional song choice. I really took my time with this vid (like 4 months). Used to be I could crank these bad boys out in one sitting, but I find that difficult nowadays. My inspiration was fleeting while working on this, so I stopped whenever I wasn't feeling it, which was usually after cutting 10 or seconds. But anyways, thank you for the re. You're like one of the "who's who" in the vidding world, so at the risk of sounding like a total fangirl . . . it's so cool that you like my stuff! Hehe.

A totally earned vid rec, Foo. I'm not surprised it took you a while to make it, apart from anything else the source is so damn bleak it must have made it hard to work on. I have to say that I've seen a few vids to this song and never have the lines "sign me up to sell me out" been so powerful and chilling.

You can fangirl me any time you like. *g* these days I feel like a bit of a fading star, the Norma Desmond of vidding.
