In love with maybe not, obsessed with definitely. He says they have to get "that thing that killed Mom" more often than Dean. He mentions that it also killed Jess but mostly it seems to be about his Mom especially after meeting her mid-season.
As for Michael he is selfish, arrogant and reckless. I get the feeling we aren't supposed to hate him. I think we are meant to feel sorry for him because of Walt but he doesn't come across as a devoted dad he just seems really annoying.
