Windows Vista?

Are there any vidders out there thinking of switching to the new windows vista? I'm thinking about it but I'm concerned how it'll affect me being able to rip and encode... I'm not sure if microsoft have made it more difficult - copyright protection and all that?

I'm surprised you haven't heard about it yet, there has been a lot of controversy about it and it's been on all the main news channels and in the press etc. Anyway, it's the new windows OS and you can take a peek here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/default.mspx

It hasn't been getting much press coverage here, though I managed to catch a small article on one of our news sites today. And then I asked M., who got to run some demos at work. He thinks it works pretty well, but is a bit hefty for its size. Of course he wasn't approaching it from a vidder's angle.

I'm getting a new computer in about a week's time so I think I'm still going to be on XP for a good few years to come. Switching operating systems give me the willies. It took me about three months to work Linux and I still can't navigate my way around a Mac. :D
