Date: 2007-02-07 06:14 pm (UTC)I loved the switching back and forth like at 1:11 - 1:25, and 2:36 'till the end.
And I love the matching of Sam being 'young James Dean'. Hehehe.
Great vid.

Date: 2007-02-08 04:47 am (UTC)Favorite part was already mentioned. It's making Sam be James Dean. I literally squeeped out loud. Hee!
Ecellent work! :D

Date: 2007-02-08 12:08 pm (UTC)Sam was always going to be on the James Dean line but when I found that clip where he does that thing with his eyebrows that settled it. lol

Date: 2007-02-08 07:58 am (UTC)What absolutely fantastic editing. I watched the entire vid with my mouth hanging open. You have got audio syncing down and I am so jealous of your eye for pace and connection and how these images fit together. My favourite bit was the shitload of parallels around the 2:20s, and then the 2:30s hit, then the twangy bridge, and my brain just completely melted from the awesome.

Date: 2007-02-08 11:57 am (UTC)I'm really pleased with the parallels and the connections I think I managed to get the gist of it across in some fairly short clips.
It was a lot of fun to edit, nothing too fiddly or hideously angst ridden. The only real problem I have is that I'd got a ton of cool clips I couldn't squeeze in. I guess I'll just have to make another Starbuck centric vid.

Date: 2007-02-09 03:38 am (UTC)im not dloading, but im curious what the m2v file format is? or its purpose?
no subject
Date: 2007-02-09 03:44 am (UTC)the .m2v version is the encoding for dvd. This vid is (hopefully) going to a convention so I uploaded it for that purpose.

Date: 2007-02-09 04:42 am (UTC)This was so awesome. I'd leave more coherent feedback, which I most undoubtly will when my head won't feel like imploding from the pressure of the sinus cold, but I'll just say for now that I adored it :D It was very simple, but ever so effective.
I like Lee though, I like how very fucked up their relationship is (if you haven't seen season 3 yet, you'll see how).

Date: 2007-02-09 05:23 am (UTC)I've watched season 3 and fucked up is certainly one way of describing it. Annoying and juvenile would be my preferred description. I've not enjoyed season 3 so much, virtually no Starbuck, plenty of Kara though. Why couldn't Lee stay fat and married to Dee! Though I wouldn't inflict him on her either out of preference. lol
Again, thank you.

Date: 2007-02-10 04:44 pm (UTC)It's downright unrelenting--just like her. :} Some of my fave sections:
--How the intro moves so seamlessly from the museum ransacking into the deck crew helping to prep her Viper and her taking off. Set the mood perfectly.
--Red lights! The empire! The tin shack! (Love the interpretations through the whole vid though really. ;D)
--How she goes back to flying after almost landing. Just one example of the awesome timing and movement you have going throughout.)
--The fades with the ships flying low over the tyllium mine asteroid.
--The happier moments on the bridge.
--Her and Six smacking the ground!
--James Dean oh my. :}
--The overlays of her deciphering the transmission and the Resurrection Ship.
--The section of her around the locker (and just before) that goes through the entire breadth of the show.
And did I mention *awesome*? :D

Date: 2007-02-11 10:50 am (UTC)It was a lot of fun to go back and revisit the less angsty aspects of Kara's character. I really do enjoy her best when she's being a rather screwed up action hero.

Date: 2007-02-14 06:03 am (UTC)I especially loved the couple of clip associations to the Cylons - the line about the "tin army" & "red lights"...those sorts of parts really bring a smile to my face!
Nice job.
You should really pop in to Reverie once in while Char, we miss you!

Date: 2007-02-14 03:28 pm (UTC)I have to admit I've got a bit behind on BSG but I still had all the footage I needed for this vid so I can start catching up now.
As for Reverie I keep meaning to drop by I'm just not very chatty these days.

Date: 2007-02-15 12:41 am (UTC)What I love most about this vid is how you showcased the fantastic action sequences in BSG without losing sight of your focus on Starbuck and how said sequences relate to that kickass action hero aspect of her character. Season three thus far has not been kind to Kara IMO, but this vid helped remind me of why I fell in love with the character in the first place.
The pacing in this is fantastic, moving along at breakneck speed without letting up (just like Kara, heh). I also just love how you carried out the parallels towards the end. I remember enjoying a Wondefalls video you had plugged at Reverie but this really just floored me. Awesome, awesome work. :)
PS: I've added you as a friend since I'd love to keep an eye out for future vids. I've read your post on this and don't worry, I'm not the type to be offended if you don't friend me back. :)

Date: 2007-02-15 04:29 am (UTC)Season 3 has definitely disappointed in regards to Kara. I'm not remotely interested in soapy love
trianglessquares.I'm glad you enjoyed the action sequences because, honestly, I am never confident editing the ass kicking stuff. But it's that aspect of Kara that attracted me to BSG in the first place so I had to give it a go.
I've friended you back by the way. I think you make great vids and although I don't always comment I always watch and enjoy what you do.

I really liked Cain as a character so there was no way I was going to leave her out of the vid.

Date: 2007-02-25 08:42 am (UTC)The thing that I love most about this video is the way it captures the personality of both the character and the show. I've never seen a single episode, but after watching this vid I felt like I really knew (and loved) the character.
Also, I'm just digging your smirking lyric ties. Favorites included "don't become the girl who's only turning on the light switch" and "another kind of war raging in your blood stream." Very witty. :)
Loved how your internal motion winked at the guitar solos as well (like with the little dance at 1:16 and the gunfire at 2:51). And drop-dead gorgeous use of crossfades.

Date: 2007-02-25 08:55 pm (UTC)I am quite partial to a visual/lyric pun. I'm glad you appreciate them too.
I wouldn't normally blow my own trumpet but I do really like my cross-fades in this, I wish I could always get the buggers to work that well.
