Looking for input:

What are your favourite, gender-neutral, non-angsty, just joyful or celebratory love/relationship songs?

Non-angsty? Jeez, that's tough ... George Michael/Aretha Franklin "I knew you were waiting for me"? I mean, the voices are male/female but I don't believe the lyrics specify....

Oh, and I have a disgusting fondness for "Here in your car" by hellogoodbye. It's very shaming.

Oh, oh, and this isn't gender neutral, but if the purpose of the request is what I think it is, it might work anyway - Weezer, Buddy Holly.

I'm shutting up now :-).

It really is! My original thought was Sew My Name by Josh Pyke, I *adore* it. It's so beautiful but it's about a love that isn't reciprocated.

Thanks for your suggestion.

If you think it's a vid, then you'd be wrong. :D Thanks for the other suggestions.

I lied, I have another - Just Can't Get Enough, Depeche Mode, doesn't have any gender specified in the lyrics...

Well "Happy Together" is a classic.

Um...I'll have to think.

I was gonna say "Happy Together" too. It's harder than I thought to find. there's "you are my sunshine" I guess :) not entirely angst free.

"Head Over Feet" - Alanis Morissette

... you're judging me, aren't you

edited to say, I suppose "I like the way you move" is right out? *g*

Umbrella - Rihanna
You Are So Beautiful - Joe Cocker

I'm done, I'm done!

Not judging, no. Laughing, yes. :D

Hmm, here are a few. There's no accounting for taste, this is just what I found after a quick skim through my MP3 folder. ;)

"Accidentally in Love" by Counting Crows

"Heaven" by Bryan Adams (covered by DJ Sammy/Yanou if you want female vocals. They have an upbeat dance version and a slow "Candlenight" mix)

"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by...well, whichever version you like best. :)

"I Say a Little Prayer" by Dionne Warwick or Aretha Franklin

"With You" by Jessica Simpson (first verse has references to the singer being female, which may mess up the gender-neutralness)

I love "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", "Say A Little Prayer" and "Accidentally In Love." Good choices.

Wow, I never thought it would be so hard to find a good lovesong that's both gender-neutral and not angsty. Among the almost 7000 songs on my playlist, these are all I found:

Beach Boys (or Bowie, or whoever) - God Only Knows
Ben Folds - The Luckiest
Elton John - Can You Feel The Love Tonight
Shania Twain - Forever and for Always
The Postal Service - Such Great Heights

And I second "Head Over Feet" and "Accidentally in Love".

Damn, this is surprisingly difficult!

"That's Where It Is" by Carrie Underwood is the first one I could think of.

"I'll Be" by Edwin McCain is rather non-angsty, too.

These wouldn't be for an upcoming ceremony that you may or may not be involved in by any chance Char? ;)

I like the following:
I Love You (Always Forever) by Donna Lewis.

The Way You Look Tonight by Elton John:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgBzy0-7B-4
(We danced to this one at our wedding)

World of Own by Westlife:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8hl9zEFK6s
(Though this one does could sound more like from the perspective of people being apart)

To the question above, yes. :D

The first 2 are promising but I can stand Westlife, they make my ears bleed.

hehehe, thought so!

While Im no fan of Westlife, I don't hate them either. But that is their only song that I genuinely like listening to.

I'm like the queen of sappy love songs!

No One, by Alicia Keys
Better Together, by Jack Johnson
The Way You Look Tonight, by (take your pick!)
The Way I Am, by Ingrid Michaelson (not quite gender-neutral, depends on how you look at hair loss)
Danny's Song, by Me First & the Gimme Gimmes
First Day of my Life, by Bright Eyes
Oh, by Dave Matthews Band
I Kissed A Girl, by Jill Sobule (classic!)
You and Me, by Lifehouse

Okay, that should be enough to get you started. Coincedentally, "Happy Together" was Steph and I's first dance. :)

There are lot's here I don't know. *downloads* Cheers, Foo.

As I've said previously, Happy Together is a fantastic song but it's one I've vidded in the past so it's really not gonna work. The vid's not something I want to be visualizing on the day.
