Seriously, I think my heart just grew three sizes. The sources you picked, the sly song, the TIMING. And especially the part where you deal with the Obligatory Dead Lesbian cliché -- you manage to bring the pain and frustration on all possible levels, from inside the story (ow) and from the meta perspective (dammit), and still be clever and funny with it. The Children's Hour, even!

This was such a personal project for me having others respond to it the way they have is just mind blowing. I wanted to get the dead lesbians in without ruining the tone, that rather overwrought part of the song was the perfect place to do that. Grr, The Children's Hour-Cheer up Emo!Shirley it might never... oh nevermind.

I had to celebrate the clichés because without them we would have virtually no representation. I'll take the hackneyed over nothing at all any day.

Wow! The sheer scope of this vid is incredible. From Shakespeare to Cagney and Lacey?! The lyrics fit the visuals perfectly. Love the cross-dressing match on "I'll wear a mask for you" and the yummy girlfight scenes with "if you want to strike me down in anger." Really liked the clips that show the characters separated from each other by walls/fences/glass starting with the Bound clip at 1:43. The editing is so tight. The whole vid is cohesive, funny and intelligent. Oh, and hot too.

I certainly did draw on a heck of a lot of source. It was great fun to research but did make clip wrangling a bit of a nightmare. There were several films/shows I would have included if I could have laid my hands on good quality versions.

I've always loved a good girlfight and I think choosing which ones to use was one of the hardest parts.

I'm amazed at the patience you have for ripping source material and finding clips that go together, what a feat. And then to make a coherent vid out of all that? Wow. You never disappoint , you know? Thanks, Foo. Actually I'd forgotten all about Just One of the Guys until I watched She's the Man and spent the whole film thinking "I've seen this before, only it was funnier and the drag was more convincing and it was the 1980s." :D

Clip wrangling was such a pain in the arse but it was definitely worth it and I got watch stuff I hadn't seen in years.
